Have you ever wondered what goes into creating a custom outfit for a high-profile commercial? Natashia, a talented designer, recently had the opportunity to design and make a custom outfit for Lil Nas X in the Doritos "cool ranch" Superbowl commercial. Let's take a closer look at the process behind this unique project.

Inspiration from Spaghetti Westerns

Lil Nas X's 4-piece cowboy suit was inspired by the classic spaghetti westerns with a modern twist. The outfit featured leather and suede paneling on the jacket, vest, and pants, adorned with over 500 crystal studs and rivets for a touch of glamour.

Custom Embroidery and Details

Natashia went above and beyond to create a one-of-a-kind look for Lil Nas X. She designed custom embroidery for a silk cotton twill western button-down shirt, complete with Doritos cool ranch blue piping and accents. Every detail was meticulously planned to ensure that Lil Nas X's outfit stood out on screen.

The Creative Process

Developing the concept for Lil Nas X's outfit was just the beginning. Natashia spent time carefully sourcing all the fabrics needed for the project, creating intricate patterns, and designing the embroidered elements. The entire process was a labor of love, culminating in a stunning outfit that perfectly captured the essence of the commercial.

On Set in Joshua Tree

After weeks of hard work, Natashia had the opportunity to be on set in Joshua Tree for 4 days of filming. Seeing Lil Nas X bring her design to life in the old western town setting was a surreal experience. The dance showdown between Lil Nas X and Sam Elliot to "Old Town Road" Reboot was a highlight of the commercial, showcasing the unique blend of music, fashion, and creativity.

Creating a custom outfit for a commercial is no easy feat, but Natashia's dedication and expertise shone through in every detail of Lil Nas X's cowboy suit. The next time you see a custom outfit on screen, remember the hard work and creativity that went into making it a reality.
